We just had our first Western New York Assistants Association event this past Friday. The event was held at Transit Valley Country Club, my home course. I was playing well so I went in expecting to win with my partner and co-worker Rod Blair. (The event was a 2 man scramble) We had a great time and came up a little short. We shot 67 and made 2 bogies. That was terrible, 2 bogies in a scramble and one of them was a 3 putt. I had some major struggles which makes that beginning of the year 70, that much more crazy. Rod and I just could not hit it close enough, and we probally would have gave ourselfs a D grade in putting. We had around 20 guys play and everyone had some fun. It was a great event to start the year, because there was no pressure on individual performance. This upcomming week the WNY Assistants Association will play at Wanakha C.C. This will be the first individual event of the year. Check out the Western New York PGA’s website each week to check out how the local PGA Professionals perform in events.
